ARTIST BIO

Ben Young is an American contemporary painter whose work explores memory, emotional tension, nostalgia, and the quiet psychological weight of lived experience.

Before dedicating himself fully to painting, Young spent 15 years as a software engineer — an analytical career that stood in stark contrast to the emotional language he now expresses through paint. Less than two years after beginning his practice, his work has gained attention from collectors drawn to its depth, texture, and emotional authenticity.

Young’s paintings often balance structure and vulnerability—reflecting a life once defined by precision and now driven by feeling. His subject matter spans landscape, still life, floral, animal, and figurative works, unified by a singular intention: to create art that resonates beyond aesthetics.

He currently works from his studio in the United States, in downtown Canton, Ohio.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I paint to translate emotion into something tangible.

For years, my life was built on logic, systems, and precision. But beneath that structure lived unspoken experiences—memories, tension, nostalgia, gratitude, loss. Painting became the language I didn’t know I needed.

Each piece begins with a feeling rather than a concept. Texture, movement, and color carry emotional weight. I’m less interested in perfection and more interested in resonance—creating work that feels familiar to someone who may not know why.

My goal is simple: To create art that stays with you.
