Dear Collector,
I’m not quite sure where to begin.
The response to “I’m Sorry, It’s Cancer” has been overwhelming. The messages, encouragement, and support I’ve received over the past month has meant more to me than I can adequately express. Thank you.
My energy has been limited lately, which has forced me to focus carefully on the work moving through my studio. I believe this season is temporary, but for now, my attention must be devoted to the paintings that matter most.

A Return to the Studio

Dear Collector,
I’m grateful to share that my surgery was successful.
I’m now back home, resting comfortably, and beginning to ease back into the rhythm of the studio. This past month has been unusually quiet on the painting front — filled instead with doctor’s appointments and preparation. While February felt short in brushstrokes, it deepened my perspective in ways I’m only beginning to understand.

I first encountered the work of Ben Young less than a year ago during an exhibition at a local cultural center. Among the assembled pieces, one painting immediately commanded attention. Hallelujah depicted an intimate, suspended moment between two intertwined figures—so private in nature it felt almost intrusive to witness. Yet it was impossible to look away.

I have been holding off on being too public or opening my new studio space. I needed time for myself to withdraw from the youth-filled local art scene and feel more at peace with my own company. I have been holding off on exhibits and being too public with any presence. However, with a supportive and loving partner by my side, I have found enough warmth not to continue to avoid the cold of the world.
